Materials & Care
Parents buying for babies ask harder questions than any other kind of shopper, and they should. Here's what our things are made of and how to look after them.
Muslin cotton
Loosely woven and breathable, which is why it's the standard for swaddles. It arrives slightly crisp and softens with every wash — that's the fabric doing what it's supposed to. Cold machine wash, tumble dry low. Used in our swaddles, quilts and burp cloths.
Bamboo viscose
Soft, thermoregulating, and a common choice for babies with sensitive skin. It has more stretch than cotton and shrinks very slightly on the first wash. Used across our romper ranges.
Solid wood
Our Montessori climbers, shelves, play kitchens and walkers. Heavier and more expensive than the plastic equivalent, and it outlasts several children. Wipe clean; don't soak. Check bolts periodically on anything climbable, as with any wooden furniture.
Food-grade silicone
Teethers, bibs, stacking toys and bath toys. Dishwasher safe, doesn't hold odour, and survives being chewed daily. Replace any teether that has been bitten through or has a split.
Age ratings and small parts
Every product page carries the manufacturer's age guidance. Those ratings are minimums, not recommendations — if you're unsure about small parts with a younger sibling in the house, size up in age. Supervise play with anything containing small components.
Safe sleep
Loose blankets, pillows and cot bumpers do not belong in a cot with a baby under 12 months. Our quilts and muslins are intended for pram, floor and play use rather than unsupervised sleep. Guidance on infant sleep is specific and it changes — follow your paediatrician or health visitor over anything you read on a shop's website, including ours.
Product safety information
Our brand partners manufacture to the safety standards required in the markets they sell into. If you need the specific certification or test documentation for a particular item — for a car seat, a sleep product, or anything you're checking against a regulation — contact us and we'll get it from the manufacturer for you rather than guess. We'd rather take a day to give you the right document than answer quickly and be wrong.
